Core business – Symposium 2022 and Context 2021

It felt like business as usual this week with news from the team organising next year’s Traditions: observance or departure symposium in Oamaru that the papers for May have been selected and presenters notified. The word is that it’s another great suite of papers across a wide range of areas and that we can look forward to seeing the first taste of the programme soon. Further conversation suggests that there’s quite a lot of enthusiasm (particularly among our GLAM members) for the symposium being a very good excuse for a long weekend in this coolest of large towns.

If you need to know a bit more about Oamaru, check out the Tourism Waitaki website.

In other news, Christmas is coming and so is Context! Thanks to the dedication of editor Linda Tyler and production editor Jennifer Matheson, the bumper 2021 double-issue is headed for the printer this month and is expected to be arriving in CTANZ member’s letterboxes in time for holiday reading. We hope to be back to normal service next year, with fingers crossed that disruptions will continue to diminish.

As it’s holiday season, there is also an opportunity for many of us to catch up on some of the inspiring dress and textile exhibitions around the country. From Otago to Auckland, there’s lots to see, and further posts on highlights are coming soon.
