As part of its three week celebration of Urbanesia, (the ‘island in the city’), Auckland’s Southside Arts Festival, includes two evenings of design at the Māngere Arts Centre from 20-22 November, a textile and adornment exhibition, a fashion compettion, and a special Pacific couture multi-media show by international designer Lindah Lepou.
The Cult Couture Emerging Designer Show is on Friday 21 November, 8pm-10.30pm, while on Saturday 22 November, 8.30pm-10pm – Cult Couture presents ‘AITU’ (Pacific Couture) by Lindah Lepou. There are five categories in the design competition, with a manufacturing contract for the supreme award winner.
Saturday night’s show is AITU’ (Pacific Couture is Art), curated by Lindah Lepou to combine Pacific couture, art and performance. Lindah explains the theme, Gafa, or genealogy and family lineages, within communities, on her website.
Tickets are the very reasonable $20 and $25 for Friday’s and Saturday’s respectively and can be booked online.
