Less than two months now until the 2015 Symposium in Dunedin. Plans are humming along nicely and the provisional programme is available here:
CTANZ 2015 Symposium – Programme
Because we’ve timed this to coincide with iD Dunedin Fashion Week, we’ve been keeping an eye on flights and accommodation, and it looks like it might be time to think about your bookings. The iD programme is also up, so check that out as it may affect your travel choices. Tickets for the iD shows are now on sale, and our block booking of really good seats for Emerging Designers on Thursday 23 April is filling up. ED gives you the opportunity to enjoy creativity like this from last year:

We also recommend the Railway Station show. The station isn’t one of New Zealand’s most photographed buildings for nothing – it’s a wonderful background for the kind of clothes that inspire Dunedin’s stylish reputation. Of course, Friday is conference dinner night but Saturday is just as good.
Although the symposium proper finishes on Saturday so you can get to that nights’s iD if you so desire, the long weekend means you don’t necessarily need to hurry back. Dunedin Public Art Gallery’s Frances Hodgkins space is unveiling an exhibition celebrating the artist’s lifelong love of textiles, Lace Collars and Calico, and the curator Priscilla Pitts and Te Papa’s Claire Regnault will talk about it at 1pm Sunday 26 April. The gallery is following that with a 3pm screening of Advanced Style.
We’re looking a offering a textile tours of Olveston on Sunday morning (do let us know with your registration if you’re interested), and possibly a behind-the-scenes visit to Toitu. Please let us know with your registration if you’re interested as this will help with timing. There are other things on and around the iD programme that might be of interest; the fine tuning of the programme will allow for other iD events.
Further CTANZ events will be added to the Symposium page as they’re confirmed.
