International Women’s Day on 8 March kicked off the official programme for celebrating Suffrage 125 throughout New Zealand throughout 2018. CTANZ is doing its bit to recognise NZ’s milestone with this year’s symposium in Dunedin, Unbound: Liberating Women (21-23 September, Otago Polytechnic), and its complementary exhibition at the Dunedin School of Art Gallery (21 September – 18 October – please note that the exhibition continues after the symposium). Those of you who have attended our previous events know they offer a broad mix of speakers – academics, curators, enthusiasts – on a range of topics, and some fun side activities as well. This year, the grapevine (suffrage purple, of course) tells us there are lots of interesting dress and textile projects going on, both individual and institutional. Come down south and share your ideas with us!

The first step to this is your abstract, due by the end of April. Our symposium page has full details on how to submit, and we’ll keep it updated with information about the programme as it develops.
