On behalf of the Costume & Textile Association Committee best wishes for the festive season!
If you are passing through Wellington during the holidays be sure to pop into Te Papa to see Unveiled: 200 Years of Wedding Fashion from the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The exhibition features over 40 stunning ensembles dating from 1828 to 2008, 60 accessories including lingerie, shoes, garters and wedding favours, and evocative period film footage.
Tickets are just $15 for adults, $13.50 concession. Best of all you can purchase a season ticket for $32 or get a group of 10 like-minds together and tickets are just $12 per person.
If you want to get a feel for the exhibition first, you can view curator Edwina Ehrman’s lecture in the comfort of your own home or listen to one of her podcasts via the website.
You can also participate in the surrounding wedding fever by uploading your family wedding or civil union photographs to the Te Papa Wedding Photo Gallery, which can be accessed online and within the Unveiled gallery. The gallery is a delight to explore.
Thank you for your support in 2011, and we look forward to seeing you in 2012.
