What’s on in Dunedin

Quite a bit on in Dunedin in the next couple of months.

At Dunedin Public Art Gallery:  À LA MODE: Early 19th Century fashion plates from the Collection

Starting Date:  Saturday, 12 February 2011
Finishing Date:  Sunday, 10 July 2011

Jane Malthus is doing floor talks for this on Wednesday 16 March at 10.30am and Sunday 10 April at 3pm.

Jane’s also doing a floor talk in Beloved (DPAG) on Sunday 6 March at 3pm (Dressed for the Show part 2).

Next week, Cloth Club on Thursday 10 March at Otago Polytech.

Then there’s the Dunedin Fringe Festival, which includes Dr Frock’s YYYEEESSS.

And of course  id Fashion week which has a new website. Some of the programme has yet to be revealed, but one of the special guests is Charlotte Smith, the writer of Dreaming of Dior and Dreaming of Chanel, who will be bringing across some of the vintage couture collection for the Railway Station show.

You are warmly invited to the opening of Rekha Rana Shailaj Masters of Art and Design project exhibition: ‘Two worlds of a migrant: wrapped in the folds of clothing’ @ Monday 4th April 2011 at 5.30pm.
Selected garments featured on the runway at the School of Fashions ‘Collections’ last year and now Rekha presents her work in an exhibition to provide viewers with the opportunity to see her collection in context of the larger project.
